US stocks rise premarket ahead of Fed decision

By Jeff Davies

Shares on Wall Street rose modestly in premarket trading on Wednesday with investors anticipating the interest rate decision by the Federal Reserve, set to be announced later in the day.

The Fed is widely expected to raise interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. United States President Donald Trump has criticized the possible move recently, saying it is “incredible” that the central bank is even considering the hike as there is “no inflation.”

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.26% in the green at 09:24 am GMT. The S&P 500 gained 0.19% in premarket trading, as the Nasdaq 100 added 0.09%.

The euro advanced 0.33% compared to the dollar, selling for $1.14015 at 09:24 am GMT.
