The announcement described the current incident as a provocation and called on Washington to stop doing such things:
We strongly urge the United States to immediately cease such provocative actions, or else it will bear the severe consequences of unforeseen events.

The US Navy announced that a response statement will be issued soon. Washington has repeatedly expressed its desire to ensure freedom of navigation in the region, which is one of the busiest shipping routes in the world, and often conducts military exercises in the region.
On the other hand, China claims all of the South China Sea, which is rich in raw materials and covers 3.5 million square kilometers, and has established many artificial islands in the area that were built for military purposes. However, parts of the sea are also owned by the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan.
Beijing supports its claims by saying that prior to 1930, no one disputed its sovereignty over the area.
