Humphrey Nijman, 30-year-old Dutch national team manager and legal advisor, Jan Cabalt, held talks at Camp Nou with Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan club, on Tuesday to finalize the footballer’s transfer. It is said that negotiations are in an advanced stage.
Wijnaldum’s contract at Liverpool expires this summer, so he can sign up for free in Barcelona, where he can sign until June 2024, and like Sergio Aguero, he is said to have agreed to pay less than his previous team.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have shown a keen interest in Vinaldome in recent weeks, but Fabrizio Romano knows Barcelona has been a priority for footballers all along.
According to Catalan radio station RAC1, Wijnaldum’s arrival has nothing to do with Ronald Koeman’s future, while De Telegraaf writes that the transfer could be officially announced ahead of the European Championship.
In addition to Wijnaldum, Catalans can get Sergio Agüero and Eric García free this summer, as well as Memphis Depay, with whom they are in talks but are still waiting for a final response.
