We have already seen a foldable smartphone from Huawei, but their first device with a foldable design, called the Huawei P50 Pocket, has finally arrived. The novelty appeared for the first time with the patented multi-dimensional hinge design from the Chinese manufacturer, which makes the mobile phone almost free of gaps when folded. Except for the foldable design, the device follows the same design as the P50 mobile phones and under its cover Qualcomm snapdragon The 888 chipset does the math, unfortunately still without support for 5G connections.
We’ll start with the screen, as it’s the most specific hardware component of the P50 Pocket. The foldable screen inside is 6.9 inches, with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels, the manufacturing technology used is of course OLED, the refresh rate is 120 Hz and the screen has an aspect ratio of 21: 9.
There’s also a display on the outside, which is a circular design that’s only one inch in size. With this size and design, you can assume it can show most of the time or few notifications compared to it, but it knows a lot more than that: it has its own widgets for apps like music players or maps. We also have the option to start the navigation on the large foldable screen, which we then monitor on the external screen after the smartphone is folded.
Huawei P50 Pocket is equipped with three rear cameras: the primary camera is a 40MP unit with 26mm lenses, a 13MP wide-angle sensor and a 32MP f/1.8 camera, and an ultrawide camera with aperture to improve color reproduction when shooting.
The soul of the foldable mobile phone is the Snapdragon 888 chipset with LTE modem, which comes with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage, depending on which package you choose. The Huawei P50 runs Pocket Harmony OS, as long as the 4000 mAh battery has enough cocoa. The battery supports fast charging with a 40W cable. The device weighs only 190 grams and is only 7.2 mm thick when folded, but is not dangerous when folded with a cross section of 15.2 mm.
The novelty of the Chinese manufacturer will be available in black and white, and there will also be a premium version with a special gold ornament. The base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will cost $1,410, and the gold-plated version with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage will be available for $1,725,000.
The smartphone is already available in China, but the good news that the device will come to global markets has been confirmed by a Huawei employee, but exactly when and the amount has yet to be announced.
