Although Google has been providing much longer support for its devices lately, when the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL models debuted, they weren’t as reliable as they are now. Accordingly, software support for the previous two pioneers was supposed to end last November. However, Google provided updates for both devices in January and February. In fact, there is another update coming for mobile phones, but it will definitely be the last.
Both the Pixel phones in question are in their fourth year of life, and it’s already a huge time in the smartphone world. Of course, understandably many people are still sticking with these devices, for them it would definitely be worth installing this particular latest update.
The new data package enables VoLTE roaming support, which can come in really handy when service providers are permanently terminating 3G networks.
One of the programs is SP1A.210812.016.B2 Number, this is valid for Australian Pixel 3 and 3 XL users, among other things, and everyone will have SP1A.210812.016.C2 Builds. It’s very likely that VoLTE roaming support will be the only feature included with this new data plan, so things like the June security patch shouldn’t be expected. Of course, Android 13 will not be available for these devices either, and its support has ended with Android 12.
As always, new software takes time to reach everyone. If you’re still using a Google Pixel 3 and/or Pixel 3 XL and would like to install this new and seemingly latest update, it’s worth checking your settings to see if it can already be downloaded to your device.
