Specifications of the new family member were leaked ahead of the official announcement.
The developments of the Netherlands based company do not appear very often in the columns of our newspaper, mainly due to the fact that the smaller player does not release any new type every year (half year). We recently reported on the release of the Fairphone 3, followed last year by the Fairphone 3+, with slightly better hardware, but the fourth generation is now coming.
German Source The news, a few days before the official announcement of the main technical features of the Fairphone 4, gave us the details that matter to us. Accordingly, the new smartphone is based on the previous concept, that is, it seeks to provide a free and sustainable alternative to the developments of well-known manufacturers, although in the current case it is very doubtful to what extent it will be able to conquer the broad masses. In the first round, images of the display were leaked, which included a triangular camera module on the back, and according to the attached data, the main 48-megapixel sensor is supplemented by an unnamed companion, as a macro element or a depth sensor with a laser autofocus function.
On the front panel you can see a notch and a relatively thin coffee, although there is much more space at the bottom that the screen does not occupy. The panel itself this time measures 6.3 inches and is expected to be based on LCD technology, with support for Full HD + resolution. The frame is made of metal, while the back cover is made of plastic, and the latter can be easily removed so that the device can be checked in a relatively simple way and repaired if necessary. Performance is provided by the Snapdragon 750G chip, which of course also supports 5G access, while Android 11 is on the software side at the time of release – there is also a fingerprint reader on the side of the device.
The version, scheduled for release on the last day of the official launch in September 128, is expected to be available on the continent for 600 euros, but there are also plans to launch a 256 GB version.
