We sleep worse than before the epidemic

We have been sleeping for less than a hundred years, and the lack of sleep has been accompanied by a deterioration in quality, said the president of the Hungarian Sleep Association.

György G. Németh explained: How we sleep at night is an essential measure of how we wake up in the morning. This person gets up in the morning almost pulling out the bed and we have to use stimuli to come to our senses at all.

He added that most people today face this negative phenomenon in some way, noting that the number of people who sleep poorly is increasing dramatically, so we have to pay attention.

  • Sleep disturbances can be linked to falling asleep if a person is unable to fall asleep within 15-20 minutes.
  • There may be difficulty falling asleep: we wake up at night and can’t go back to sleep, we just spin.
  • Or we wake up too early so we don’t have the right time to sleep.

Science today lists nearly 120 types of sleep disorders and sleep disorders. The expert stressed that among these cases are very severe, such as respiratory apnea, which means breathing stops during sleep, or sleepwalking.

The deteriorating trend is also attributed to the slow two-year period of the pandemic:

Each patient has an early predisposition to an epidemic, or the cause of the condition. Changing conditions also affect sleep patterns, disrupting the circadian rhythm to which we are accustomed. If it does not recover, sleep disturbances can quickly develop into sleep disorders that already require medical attention.
