As we reported last week, Cam Weber, President of EA Sports, spoke in an open letter about the future of the FIFA series. Not only did we see dry data on this, but it also turns out that EA is currently looking to explore the possibility of rebranding the FIFA series.
It’s not yet clear what exactly losing the FIFA license would entail, but Weber recently noted that EA Sports recognizes that when building a global franchise over the years, it’s essential that players have a reliable experience. Webber revealed that a lot of effort is being put into creating stand-alone licensing agreements with various leagues, players, stadiums and other partners. Thanks to this, they currently have more than 300 partners who give them access to 17,000 athletes, 700 teams, 100 stadiums and 30 leagues, as well as the rights to famous tournaments such as the Champions League.
That’s why EA Sports trusts it, and Weber says our ecosystem of extensive partnerships and licensed content allows us to provide fans with unparalleled credibility now and for many years to come.
